Why the Interview?
An interview benefits both- the interviewer and the interviewee. It gives interviewer the opportunity to know details about the prospective employee. On the other hand the aspiring candidate gets a chance to showcase his/her abilities also beyond the academic qualifications, e.g. the contribution from previous experiences, leadership qualities, ability to take responsibilities and attitudes towards work, human relationships and level of patience and capacity to bear stress. It also provides both the parties to what the candidate can do for the company, and assess whether the qualifications presented and career ambitions align with the position under view.
Job interviews can be quick - sometimes lasting as little as a half hour - or long, if the interviewee needs to meet separately with two or more people from the company. When both parties listen intently and speak accurately, there is much to gain from the job interview process.
In the current scenario where a number of jobs are offered for online assignments or people have to be employed for work-from-home, from other cities or even other countries the interview process is accordingly modified. There is a provision for online interviews and a series of interviews taking place before finalizing the outcome. Candidates seeking jobs abroad have to be prepared to be subjected to this process, where they do not see the interviewer and meet the person face-to-face; their appearance for video-calls and their paperwork represents them.
